Palm OS Client Software Installation and Configuration
The .prc file is the installation program for the client, this file must be installed onto your device.
Use the Palm Desktop installation program to install this file onto your device. By default the client will be installed into the "Unfiled" category.
Please note that the client you download will be mostly pre-configured.
You will only need to enter your GroupWiseSync login details.
The information below is mainly for reference.
Before running the client please ensure that you have opened the calendar, contacts and tasks applications at least once to ensure that all internal databases are available. Without these databases the client will not synchronise correctly.
Start the SyncML application by tapping the icon on the home screen of your PDA.
This will open the application and show the screen below:
To alter the settings of this profile tap the Menu icon on your PDA and then select
from the menu that appears (see screen shot below).
The "User" and "Password" settings must be set to the same login details that you use for your GroupWiseSync.com account (these may not be the same as your GroupWise Calendar account).
Unfortunately, the Palm HotSync software does not allow an IP connection to be established
through the cradle/cable. Because of this the GroupWiseSync client will be unable
to communicate with the GroupWiseSync server.
There is, however, 3rd party software available that will allow an IP connection to be established through the cradle/cable. One such application is the PPP software from Softick.com.
An evaluation version can be obtained from their website. Once installed and configured this software will allow the GroupWiseSync client on your device to correctly establish the necessary IP connection with the GroupWiseSync server and will allow the synchronisation process to take place.
Adding Contacts and Tasks Support
If you are using the GroupWiseSync Premium account you will need to activate Contacts and Tasks on your GroupWiseSync client.
To do this you first need to ensure that you are using the latest release of the GroupWiseSync client. You can do this by using the Check for updates option inside your client.
Once you are using the latest release of the client you simply need to perform a sync with your GroupWiseSync Premium account. When this sync is complete you will see the Contacts and Tasks options appear on the main page of your client.
Select the Contacts and Tasks check boxes and sync again.
